Fun in the sun

The fairies were very happy when they woke up to find the sun was shining. Heading out of their fairy homes they looked around at the winter battered garden and wondered what jobs they should set about to first. All the trees and bushes had been left after summer so that they could be a shelter for fairies and wildlife.

Full of the joys of Spring they decided that they would start with a spot of pruning.

 

 

 

 

However, fairies have very short attention spans, and are easily distracted. They soon got bored of the task, as pruning, they found, was hard work, and not pretty like growing flowers.

First Beatrice headed into the pile of cuttings as she decided there were some twigs that would be great for wand making. Quickly filling her back pack with her collection. A little fairy dust and a fairy spell and there would be new wands for all.

 

 

While looking at the twigs, Tootles wondered if there were any that would be good for making a fairy swing. She has always wanted a swing and got very excited. How could anyone say no to such a happy fairy?

Slipping between the gaps she soon made her way into the heart of the heap to find the perfect swing. It had to balance just right, and be comfortable to sit on.

It would also be the perfect place for romance! Tootles has a bit of a crush on a visiting leprechaun.

 

 

With some help from Bramble, the perfect twig was soon found and strung from a low branch. Now being fairies, they had to decorate the swing with a bit of sparkle ( admit it, we could all do with a bit more sparkle in our day).

 

 

 

Tootles made sure she held on tight.

Such fun for a sunny day, Beatrice soon decided that she wanted to play too. Who wouldn't love spending a few hours flying back and forth on their own fairy swing? How lovely to feel the wind rushing over your wings as you swoop and rise.

 

 

After all that playing the girls were ready for a rest and some tea and cake. They settled down by a patch of smiling daffodils and asked their friend the garden gnome, if he would like to join them.

 

 

 

It has been such a long time since the weather has been nice enough for a picnic in the garden. As much as the fairies love the fun that winter brings, they have missed the warmth of the sun on their wings. So it is always nice to use the time to catch up with old friends over a cup of tea in the sunshine. The fairies do find that gnomes aren't great conversationalists, but they do get to know all the best garden gossip.

After the fairies had finished their picnic and caught up on all the latest goings on, they then decided that it would be a jolly idea to make a den , as every one should have their own den to hide away in.

Dens need to be pretty as well as practical (well maybe pretty is more important than practical to fairies) and their den was certainly pretty.

 

 

 

Once the fairies had finished, and the air was getting chilly again, the fairies made sure they tidied the garden of anything that would be a danger to their feathered friends who like to call to visit.

 

 

Later when the rest of the fairies were all snuggled down for an afternoon nap, Tootles crept back into the garden to meet with a certain young chap.

Comic Relief Crafternoon

So yesterday was Comic Relief. The fairies decided that they wanted to join in and do their bit. The obvious way was doing a bit of crafting. It took a while to track down the Mollie Makes Crafternoon book, but it was well worth it, There are so many things that the girls wanted to make.

 

The first things to be made had to be the red noses. Unfortunately the pattern in the book was slightly to big for small fairies, so we had to play about to get the right sizes.

 

 

The girls also spotted that Comic relief was being supported by their favourite chocolate. Fairies don't really need any excuse to eat chocolate but this made them very happy .

 

 

Lots of fun was had and the girls invited some of their friends to join in the activities. Some were a bit better than others with the challenge of putting on a red nose.

Fashion For Fairies

The fairies decided new dresses were way overdue. Orders were placed for how they would like their dresses to look, then I was left with the challenge of creating their dream outfits.

Fairies can be very particular, and if they don't like what they are given they won't sugar coat it, you now exactly how they feel!

So I wrote down all their requirements and took their measurements, then got to work with my hook and yarn.

 

 

Fairies are also very impatient, they constantly wanted to know when dresses would be ready, and who was going to get their dress first (this caused a lot of squabbling between them).

 

Tabitha was first to try her dress, she seemed rather happy as she jumped and fluttered around the room. Phew, one happy fairy.

 

 

Next to be fitted for her dress was Tallulah. She had wanted a dress that made her feel like a spring flower and a ballerina. I think I managed to satisfy the brief.

 

 

Tootles wanted a dress that would make her feel like a princess. The only problem now is that she has decided that she simply must have a tiara and plenty of sparkly jewels.

 

 

Topsy wanted to make sure she would still have some black in her outfit, even if it is coming up to spring. She was rather pleased with the details around the waistband.

 

 

All in all a very successful collection of fairy fashion x x

Valentine

Tootles is rather excited this morning as she woke up to find a bouquet of flowers had been left for her by a secret valentine. 

Now we all know how mischievous fairies can be, so I am hoping it is not one of the other girls playing a trick on her, as she would be furious.

 

 

 

 

 The mission now is to find out who sent the flowers. Tootles has been looking for clues but is not having much luck.

 

 It's not often we see young men fairies in these parts, so it should be easy to spot one if he comes around. Tootles is hoping for someone tall,dark, and handsome. The other fairies think he is more likely to look like a toad.

 

Tootles has told them that they are only saying that because they are jealous as they weren't given any valentine gifts.

 

 

 

For any of you out there who didn't receive anything either, she has been busy making hearts to share with you all.

Snow!

The fairies have been a little excited this week as we had snow, not a lot, but enough for fairies to play in.

 

Tabitha loved making snow angels (or should that be snow fairies?)

It's a good job that fairies don't feel the cold the same way that we do.

 

 

 

It seems that Brambles hasn't really got the hang of making snowmen, but she had fun trying.

 

 

The birds came to remind the fairies that the bird feeders really did need topping up, so Tallulah got busy making sure there was a good choice for all our feathered visitors.

 

 

 

The robin was a little surprised to find another couple of visitors to the garden! They seem to have got a little lost and are definitely feeling the chill.

 

 

 

Not happy with simply staying in the garden, Brambles wondered if there would be snow on the beach. She was a little disappointed that the sea wasn't frozen over for to skate on.

 

Hoping that the snow stays away now till next winter x x x

Watching the birds

The fairies have been busy getting the garden ready for the rspb Big Garden Birdwatch. All the fairies love to welcome the local wildlife into the garden.

 

 

They have been gathering seeds and nuts and taking over the kitchen making delicious 'fat balls' for the birds to dine on.

 

The first guest to be seated was a rather feisty robin, who didn't seem to want share and chased off a number of other feathered visitors.

 

 

Fairies are not very good at spending a whole hour being quiet, so it is a good job that birds are very friendly with the fairies and aren't easily scared off by them.

 

 

 

Bramble loves to spend time rummaging through the leaf litter and so do the birds who visit us.

 

 

Not all of the birds who flew in to our garden were as obliging as this little fellow, most were much too quick to get their picture taken!

 

 

 

 

The girls have promised all the birds that they will continue to keep the bird feeders well stocked and that they will always have a place to roost x

Hello again!!

Oh giddy, it has been such a long time since I have popped up here. Next year I must do better!!

So to catch up I will post a few pictures from the run up to Christmas, then next year I will hopefully get back in the swing of things x
